Jennifer Metcalfe

Jennifer Joanne Metcalfe (born 4 September 1983 in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England) is an English actress and model. She joined the cast of soap opera Hollyoaks in June 2006, playing feisty Mercedes McQueen.She was brought up in Holme Wood in Bradford, West Yorkshire, and has been acting since age 12.[citation needed] She attended the Scala Kids drama school in her hometown. Metcalfe did a degree in Health and Fitness before proceeding with an acting career.[citation needed]

In between acting jobs, Metcalfe worked as a fitness instructor in Bradford.Before Hollyoaks, she appeared in several TV shows including kids' TV series My Parents Are Aliens and ITV dramas Where The Heart Is and At Home with the Braithwaites, as well as Yorkshire soap Emmerdale. She co-owns the clothing rental boutique, The Closet, in Liverpool with Hollyoaks co-stars Claire Cooper and Leah Hackett, which opened in April 2010.
 
 Hollyoaks
In June 2006, Metcalfe began playing Mercedes McQueen in the soap opera Hollyoaks. In 2007 and 2008, she was nominated for Sexiest Female at both the British Soap Awards and the Inside Soap Awards for her role as Mercedes.[citation needed] In 2011, she was nominated for Sexiest Female at the British Soap Awards and TV Soap Personality at the TRIC Awards, Television and Radio Industries Club, and was up against Jessie Wallace, Eastenders, and Sally Dynevor, Coronation Street. She ultimately lost out to Jessie Wallace.
 
Other appearances
Metcalfe appeared in a episode of My Parents are Aliens aired in 1999 titled "First Christmas".[citation needed] Metcalfe has also appeared on Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack (along with Hollyoaks colleagues Claire Cooper and Gemma Merna), Lily Allen and Friends, and The Friday Night Project. She appeared in Dancing on Ice (series 6) in 2011. She was partnered with French skater Sylvain Longchambon but got eliminated in Week 5 to Vanilla Ice and Katie Stainsby.[citation needed] In 2011, she appeared in an episode of the BBC television series The Real Hustle.[citation needed]
